DISA says ‘Encore’ to successful purchase process

The Defense Information Systems Agency, designating its Defense Enterprise Integration Services II contract a success, is continuing the $3 billion purchasing vehicle, which had been set to expire July 1.

The agency last month awarded contracts to nine vendors under a seven-year, $2 billion follow-on called the Encore Information Technology Solutions program.

Through the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts, federal buyers can issue fixed-price, time and materials, or cost reimbursement task orders, said Mark Schneider, the Encore contracting officer for DISA. The program includes a category for small businesses.

Vendors will compete to sell hardware, software, services and other products to the Defense Department and other government agencies. The technologies the vehicle offers include command and control, intelligence, mission support and portions of the Global Information Grid.

“The Encore ordering process will enable customers to place requirements on contract quickly and easily,” Schneider said. “Encore allows us a Web-based capability to upload requirements and proposals, which is fast, seamless and very attractive to customer users.”

Contract winners include Analytical Services Inc. of Huntsville, Ala.; Computer Sciences Corp.; Electronic Data Systems Corp.; Lockheed Martin Corp.; Northrop Grumman Information Technology Systems of Los Angeles; Pragmatics Inc. of McLean, Va.; TranTech Inc. of Alexandria, Va.; TRW Inc.; and Unisys Corp. of Blue Bell, Pa.

Work is expected to begin next month.
