GAO: Redo buy for Recreation One-Stop site
By Jason Miller, GCN Staff
The Government Accountability Office earlier this month recommended reopening the procurement for the Recreation One-Stop project.

Auditors found that the Forest Service made numerous errors when it awarded the $128 million contract to ReserveAmerica of Ballston Spa, N.Y., prompting a protest by Spherix Inc. of Beltsville, Md.

The National Recreation Re- servation Service will offer centralized information for more than 57,000 campgrounds, cabins, parks, and tours of national sites, historic homes and caves.

Henry Gorczycki, GAOs attorney, said the Forest Service made mistakes in its evaluation and source selection processes but declined to offer more details because the information is proprietary.

The Forest Service has 60 days to decide if it will follow GAOs recommendation on the Quicksilver e-government project.
