OPM issues RFP for Retirement Systems Modernization support
By Rob Thormeyer, GCN Staff
The Office of Personnel Management is seeking a vendor to support the agencys retirement systems modernization program in an effort to give government workers participating in the program improved access to customer service, benefits decisions and counseling.

In a recent solicitation, OPM said it will hold an industry workshop Dec. 9 to provide an overview of the Retirement Systems Modernization (RSM) program, status and desired end-state.

OPM said RSM will modernize the existing Federal Retirement System by improving services through new technologies and business processes. It is a multiphase, multiyear program that will revamp various processes that provide services to employees participating in the governments retirement program, the solicitation said.

RSM will increase the accuracy, consistency and timeliness of services provided to all Civil Service Retirement System and Federal Employees Retirement System users, OPM said.

The agency said it is looking for a contractor that will provide Business Transformation and IT support services for the RSMs existing and future foundation elements.

The winning bidder will provide BT services and associated IT support to integrate RSM projects with other agency systems and applications, the solicitation said. Specifically, the successful contractor will provide interfaces for external agency data feeds and re-engineer existing OPM operations to function more efficiently and effectively.

OPM anticipates awarding an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity single-award contract, and responses to the RFP are due Dec. 23.
