Joint Forces scheduling system continues with DRC
By William Welsh, Contributing Writer
A system created to help the Joint Services Command manage and track operations and exercises of forces under its control will continue to be supported by Dynamics Research Corp. through an $8.3 million contract.

Under the contract, DRC of Andover, Mass., will furnish software enhancements to the Web-based Joint Event Scheduling System, known as JESS. As part of the services package, the company also will supply maintenance, help desk support, documentation and training.

The JESS application provides the Joint Services Command with automated event management, force management, scheduling of events such as operations, exercises and experiments.

DRCs work on the scheduling system dates back to September 2002. The company also provided JESS development services for the Special Operations Command by configuring the system to support its mission in the fight against global terrorism.

DRCs work on the JESS program and knowledge of the subject area is helping USJFCOM centralize and streamline its work to fight the Global War on Terror, said Tom Kelly, DRCs senior vice president and general manager. JESS provides the systems capability needed to efficiently organize the joint forces and helps answer the Defense Departments call for a more integrated and effective military.
