StreamBase boosts complex-event processing

StreamBase Systems yesterday unveiled a new complex-event processing platform that speeds up the development and deployment of real-time applications.

CEP servers detect complex patterns of events flowing through the layers of an information technology infrastructure and help analysts determine the impact of these events on business processes and act upon them in real time.

StreamBase’s software platform improves real-time data processing for applications in the federal government and defense arenas, and for radio frequency identification devices and sensor networks, company officials said. Recognizing the growing importance of CEP technology, In-Q-Tel, the CIA’s venture capital arm and technology incubator, announced a strategic investment and technology advancement agreement with StreamBase earlier this year.

StreamBase 5.0, the new release of the company’s CEP platform, offers built-in support for IBM’s DB2 data server, WebSphere Front Office and xSeries hardware. Other new features include out-of-the box application development frameworks, end-to-end application development, expanded support for advanced data types, flexible pattern matching, enterprise security and integration with a broad range of market data and messaging infrastructure systems, company officials said.
