(BlackBerry) Storm brews in cell-phone market

Not to be outdone by Apple Inc.'s iPhone and T-Mobile's GI "Google Phone," Research in Motion (RIM) apparently is planning to release a new handheld mobile phone with a jazzy new design and an App Center filled with games and other add-on programs, according to Time magazine.

Although RIM has neither officially launched Storm nor even commented on its existence, Time reports that a leaked 17-page PowerPoint presentation purportedly shows the touch-screen Storm, along with an App Center that will mimic Apple's App Store and Google's Android Market.

RIM would not confirm that the leaked photos are of the Storm, but by Monday afternoon the images had been published and identified as RIM's new device on a handful of tech Web sites.
