Air Force awards four workstation BPAs

MAY 23—The Air Force’s central source selection organization has negotiated four blanket purchasing agreements for workstation products, officials announced.

Standard Systems Group officials at the Gunter Annex of Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., selected Compaq Computer Corp., Government Technology Services Inc. of Chantilly, Va., Logicon Inc. of Herndon, Va., and World Wide Technology Inc. of St. Louis, said Stephen Sigler, acquisitions chief for SSG’s commercial information technology product area directorate (CIT-PAD).

Discounts range from 9 to 40 percent off the companies’ General Services Administration Information Technology Schedule contract pricing, said Teresa Harris, Information Technology Tools contracting officer at SSG. The BPAs feature Intel and RISC-based workstations from Compaq, Gateway Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co., IBM Corp. and Sun Microsystems Inc., she said.

SSG officials invited companies to bid on the workstation BPA on March 16 with notices placed on the CIT-PAD Web site, in Commerce Business Daily and on the Electronic Systems Center Web site, Sigler said. The winning companies received verbal notification on May 4, with agreements signed on May 17, after a policy review.

The BPAs have a two-year base period, with three one-year options, Sigler said. They have a combined estimated value of $140 million, and any federal organization that can order from GSA IT Schedule contracts can use the BPAs, he said.

SSG officials will soon award BPAs for supplies and accessories, including hard-drive upgrades, monitors, memory upgrades and equipment for the disabled, Sigler said.
